A tube, A top

I have a tendency to shed items as I hop my way from friend to friend across Europe.

Mostly, these items are left behind at Joram’s house, to the point where he now refers to a ‘Tegan drawer’ where all the abandoned things go to wait for my return.

A hat, some tupperware, a protein shaker, and at least a few items of clothing.

This is probably the worst offence:

(I’m pretty sure he wrote my name in capital letters in a specifically loving way).

And in my defence, the watermelon was not from me.

Anyway, my point is that back in August or September 2025, I made a top.

And I like the top.

But I only managed to get a couple of work selfies, and a series of quite artistic photos taken by a three-and-a-half year old, before I left the top at a friend’s house.

Luckily, now it’s been returned to me!

Hooooraaayyyyy:

The fabric for the top is from Australia, bought a couple of trips ago on a visit to the Spotlight fabric chain with my mum.

This one is part of a collection designed by the Warlukurlangu Aboriginal artists. It’s called Warlukurlangu Jukurrpa (Fire country Dreaming; you can read about that on the website.)

The fabric is fully stretchy, and doesn’t fray at all, and as usual, I only bought half a metre of the stuff (yes yes, I am very cheap).

So instead of making an actual top, I just sewed up a tube with a VERY lazy and VERY messy zigzag stitch and sliced in some holes to poke my arms through.

That’s it kids. Sewing doesn’t have to be hard work.

(By the way, is it just me or is the back seam actually super cool with the lined up fire chains?)

Because the material is pretty thin and very stretchy, it can be easily moved around and worn a bit shorter or longer….

…, with the downside being that it does also have a wee bit of a tendency to roll at the bottom edge.

Ok, that’s probably enough photos of my leaping around for now.

Happy Sewing for everyone who partakes!

Errrr, probably some time in August 2025 or so??
